Every week, I meet applicants whoâve spoken to multiple consultants yet still feel confused. Why? Because most people ask outdated questions â or get half information.
â 1. âMy CRS is low. Is Express Entry finished for me?â
Not at all. Category-based draws continue to select candidates with lower CRS if their skillset matches priority sectors. Plus, a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) nomination gives +600 points, guaranteeing an ITA.
â 2. âDoes studying in Canada guarantee an easier PR?â
No â it helps, but doesnât guarantee anything. A Canadian diploma + PGWP boosts your odds only if your: â Program is relevant â Province has a matching PR pathway â Occupation is currently in demand The wrong course = a work permit without a PR route.
â 3. âWill a Canadian job offer boost my PR chances immediately?â
It helps with eligibility, not guaranteed points. â Valid LMIA-backed job offers open many PNP pathways â But they no longer add CRS points under Express Entry as per updated IRCC rules
So a job offer strengthens your file â but itâs not an instant PR shortcut.
â 4. âMy work experience and education donât match. Is that a problem?â
Not always. IRCC cares more about whether your job duties match the correct NOC than your degree major. If your duties, hours, and role align with your claimed NOC, your PR eligibility remains strong.
â 5. âCan I apply to multiple provinces at once?â
Exploring? Yes. Committing? No. You can submit EOIs to different provinces, but once nominated, you must intend to settle in that province. Conflicting commitments can lead to refusals.
â 6. âMy spouse has weaker English. Will it affect PR?â
Yes â especially in Express Entry. Your spouseâs language scores affect your CRS spouse factor points. Weaker English doesnât disqualify you â but it does reduce competitiveness.
â 7. âIs it really worth taking a French language test for Canada PR?â
Yes â more than ever in 2025. IRCC now prioritizes French-speaking candidates across multiple pathways. A good TEF/TCF score can:Â
â Add up to 50 CRS pointsÂ
â Qualify you for French-speaking category-based draws (often with lower CRS cutoffs)
â Make you eligible for French-only PNP streams in provinces like Ontario, NB, and Manitoba
â Strongly increase your overall PR selection chances
French is now one of the fastest ways to stand out and get invited.
